HARDA envisages to promote food security, enhance the living conditions of the communities and provide the basis for the social and economic transformation which will enhance community resilience to climatic and man-made shocks common in the Horn of Africa region.

Sustainable Livelihoods

HARDA works with the pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in sustainable food production and post-harvest management in line with the United Nations (UN) SDG 1 and 2

Disaster Risk Reduction

HARDA has put in place community managed disaster risk reduction program that ensures proper mitigation measures put in place for a climate resilient and sustainable communities.

Social Protection

There exists a huge population of elderly, persons living with disabilities, refugees & poor people who need assistance in the HoA countries that we operate in.

Water & Sanitation

HARDA supports the establishment of water user associations (WUAs) and develops community-based water points e.g. water kiosks, water pans, boreholes and water troughs to ensure access to clean water for both human and livestock use.

Environment, Energy & Natural Resources Management

At HARDA, we will support the use of alternative source of energy (Clean energy) in the region. We will establish small scale biogas plants for production of methane gas for household cooking and heating.

Education

HARDA will also support adult literacy programs in the pastoral areas and will be involved in civic education and advocacy programs to enable the community to participate in decisions or activities that will determine or influence their socio-economic and political life.
